Mark Pope has already rid himself of the five-star burden by landing high-flying forward Ryan Hampton in the 2027 class. Kentucky's future win went all out at Peach Jam today, putting on for a host of competing coaches as he dropped 15 points (all in the second half) alongside six rebounds. He's a great base for the Cats' freshman future, and his potential running mate may not be far off.
In fact, at Peach Jam, he was Hampton's teammate. Five-star big Lewis Uvwo already had a Kentucky offer going into the event, but his performance next to Hampton gave Coach Pope and his staff every possible reason to hand him a blank NIL check. Just pick a number, Uvwo.
The lengthy 6-foot-10 big posted 10 (blink hard and read that again) blocks at the event, adding 10 points and nine boards in the process. Thats a near-triple-double against top-tier collegiate talent. Translation: The dude is nasty.
Oh, and Kyle Tucker noted after a post-game interview with Uvwo that he yells "Ha! Ha!" after blocking shots. Can we get this dude in the blue and white already? Take a look at his tape from Slam HS Hoops below:

On top of that truly ridiculous defensive stat, Uvwo fits Kentucky's current one-man outlook better than just about any other recruit. And with his chemistry with Hampton already on display, this one is beginning to look like a no-brainer.
Lewis Uvwo is a No-Brainer for Kentucky
Uvwo, again, has a long frame, but his ability to meet scorers at the rim can't be questioned. In the footage from this game alone, he manages a clean block going against momentum on multiple occasions.
Naturally, he's able to get up and throw down lobs with ease, too. Paired with Hampton's 6-foot-6, similarly spry build, the two would form an early core of guaranteed athleticism for a Kentucky roster that has seen a ton of turnover in Mark Pope's first two seasons.
Have these two guys signed on and ready to go, and I'm comfortable saying the Wildcats would be fine (mostly) regardless of how the rest of next offseason pans out. But as these things go, I don't have to tell you that Pope and Kentucky aren't alone in their interest.
Pope and Kentucky Aren't Alone in the Pursuit of Uvwo
Alabama, Arkansas, Duke, Kansas, and Louisville have all also offered Uvwo already, and that's just scratching the surface. With his recruitment still in such an early stage, it's hard to tell how interested any of these schools actually are, the Cats included.
But with Kentucky's framework so far, as well as the likely reality of losing Malachi Moreno at the five-spot next year, Uvwo checks a ton of boxes as a name that Pope could push in his chips for.
I just like the guy's attitude, too. It's hard not to want a player who's smiling and laughing after every play out there; Uvwo would be a fan favorite of the Big Blue Nation's before he even took the floor.
