It didn’t begin with the same excitement as the last game, but the Wildcats used a strong late first-half run to take control and secure a 98-67 win in their final preseason tune-up. Minnesota State had closed within two points at 22-20; from that point, Kentucky ended the half on a 21-3 run and never looked back.

This season, we’re introducing a new feature for each game, our three stars of the night beginning with number 1:

1. Jaxon Robinson

Robinson was clearly the top performer on this night. He ended up leading the Wildcats with 24 points. All eight of his makes were from three-point land. With a rapid quick release, he kept Minnesota State on their heels all game. Robinson also contributed in other ways, adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists on the night. This is a great overall showing from Kentucky's leading man and something to build on as the season starts next week.

2. Otega Oweh

Oweh was crucial on both ends of the court tonight, finishing with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals for a great all-around performance. He was silky smooth all night and easily got to the rim. He only missed one shot and created for his team. If he can stuff the stat sheet like this all game, he may end up being the best all-around player on the team.

3. Brandon Garrison

Garrison’s inside presence and scoring touch were on full display as he contributed 12 points and 4 rebounds. He was efficient and had a high motor all game long. He provided a steady offensive outlet for Kentucky in the post. Garrison’s consistent ability to finish around the rim, including the above dunk, made him tonight's third star of the game.

A fun night at Rupp that started slow, but fans eventually were treated to a show. Kentucky begins its regular season next Monday against Wright State. We will be waiting for an update on Amari Williams after he left the game in the first half. Wildcat Blue Nation will be your source for everything Kentucky basketball all season long.
