Kentucky football: 3 players who need to step up in week 10
By John Strong
Kentucky football has now lost three games after losing to #21 Tennessee, 33-27. They are now continuing a tough stretch in conference play as they head to Starkville to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are coming into this game with a 14-point loss at Auburn. Both teams need a win badly, but Kentucky needs it more. This will be a defense-heavy game today because that was the worst part of the team against Tennessee.
Here are three players that need to step up for Kentucky football in week 10 against Mississippi State.
1. Maxwell Hairston:
Hairston has had a great season so far, but he was very quiet in the loss against the Volunteers with just two total tackles. He will need to do more if the Cats want to end the season on a high note.
2. J.J. Weaver:
Weaver is similar to Hairston; they both have been good this season but have been quiet lately. Weaver had three tackles against Tennessee, and honestly, that is all he did in that game. For the UK defense to be successful, Weaver needs to make more splash plays.
3. Tayvion Robinson:
Robinson had a superb start to the season but has been quieter getting into the tough stretch of the SEC slate. He was the fifth-leading receiver for the Cats in the game against Tennessee. Robinson should be the second or third receiver in every game.
The Cats have another 7:30 kickoff, and they are traveling to a tough atmosphere at Mississippi State. They have to be ready, or this could be a fourth loss in a row. This game may be the most important game of the season now.
