Kentucky football is 5-0 but now plays their toughest opponent of the season in No. 1 Georgia. On the contrary, the Bulldogs have had a fairly light schedule, and the Wildcats are the first-ranked team on their schedule, appearing at No. 20 in the AP Poll.
UK is playing some of its best football of the season, coming off a 33-14 win over previously ranked Florida. Despite getting shut down in the passing game, the Wildcats ran all over the Gators, with Ray Davis exploding for 280 rushing yards and 4 total touchdowns – 3 on the ground.
For Davis to have a game like that against Georgia would be absolutely bonkers, given the Bulldogs’ defense. Georgia is holding opponents to an average of just 13 points per game. On the ground, Georgia has been stifling opposing running backs. The Bulldogs have allowed just 113.8 rushing yards per game.
However, Auburn found a way to rush for 219 yards on 43 carries last week. If Kentucky can find a way to do that, they could find success. Winning the trenches against UGA is not for the faint of heart.
If Kentucky football can develop a game plan to score points against the Bulldogs, it could help make this game close. Georgia hasn’t proven to be particularly dominant, with two of their last three games being won by 10 points or less.
