Kentucky football: 3 players who need to step up in week 6
By John Strong
The Cats had a dominating win against the Florida Gators. And now the season is in full swing, and Kentucky football is about to play their hardest opponent so far and maybe for the whole season. They travel to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in week 6.
These three players must step up for Kentucky football in week 6 against the Georgia Bulldogs.
1. Devin Leary:
Leary has been fairly bad to start the season. He was only 9-19 for 69 yards and a passing touchdown against Florida. The passing game was not needed much in that game, because Ray Davis had that game taken care of with nearly 300 rushing yards and 4 total touchdowns. Leary will have to be better if the Cats have a chance to win in Athens.
2. Dane Key:
Speaking about the passing game, Key did not have a reception against the Gators but is still undefeated against them. Kentucky will need Key to make some massive plays down the stretch if the Cats want to remain undefeated. He goes hand in hand with Leary in this upcoming game against Georgia. If Key can find separation, it will help his quarterback.
3. Trevin Wallace:
It is kind of hard to pick a defensive player because they all played well against Florida. Outside of a few crucial tackles and a interception early on, Wallace was fairly quiet, and players like D’Eryk Jackson and Keaten Wade stepped up and made the crucial plays late in the game. Wallace is guaranteed to bounce back and dominate the rest of the season.
The Cats have a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday against No. 1 Georgia on ESPN. This game will say a lot about the Kentucky football team. Can the passing game do something? We will wait and see.
