Boogie Fland, one of the top point guards in the class of 2024, continues to be very high on Kentucky basketball.

Fland, a 5-star rated prospect by 247Sports Composite, and a 4-star (but top point guard) by On3, dropped his top three schools on Thursday.

“Indiana, Kentucky, and Alabama are the schools pushing hard to get me and I’m focused on those three schools,” Fland said to 247Sports reporter Dushawn London.

Fland has also been connected to Michigan. In fact, the Wolverines were the favorites to land Fland, according to On3. He also had a visit scheduled to Maryland, which was canceled.

Now, it’s a three-team race, with Kentucky basketball in a great position for the New York recruit. Fland visited Lexington from Sept. 8-10, and continues to be a priority for John Calipari and the Wildcats.

Listed at 6-3, he plays high school basketball at Archbishop Stepinac in New York City. Fland plays within himself, is a strong finisher at the rim, and has a good three-point shot. He has a great sense for making plays, seemingly playing years ahead of his age.

For Kentucky basketball, getting a point guard in the class of 2024 is very important. The Wildcats are set to lose Antonio Reeves out of the backcourt after this season. Freshmen Rob Dillingham and DJ Wagner could both be one-and-done players. The backcourt could have entirely new pieces next season, and that’s especially true at point guard.

Fland isn’t the only point guard Kentucky is high on for 2024. 4-star Travis Perry is linked to the Wildcats and would be a fantastic backup option. But Fland brings star power, something UK is always searching for at PG.

It’s also worth mentioning that Billy Richmond, a highly sought-after shooting guard in the class of 2024.

Richmond and Kentucky basketball are heavily linked, especially since he played high school basketball with Wagner and Bradshaw. Being from New Jersey, Richmond and Fland could be an interesting pairing. It’s looking way down the line, but it’s worth noting that the two stars don’t live too far from each other now.

So far, neither Richmond nor Fland have set any commitment dates, but it appears that they are both coming close to their decisions in the near future.
