Kentucky basketball has had tremendous players since John Calipari took over as the head coach in 2009. His Wildcats have become an NBA pipeline and have still been successful in the college ranks, winning the NCAA Tournament in 2012.

Throughout his time at UK, the Wildcats have had some program-changing point guards. It’s nearly impossible to trim the list down to just five, but that just shows the level of talent coming through the doors in Lexington.

From John Wall to Ashton Hagans, plenty of talented point guards have graced Rupp Arena. For the purpose of this article, I’m cutting that list down to just the top five Kentucky basketball PGs in the Calipari era.

Of course, plenty of things factor in. If a player was a one-and-done, NBA success won’t factor in. We’re merely talking about how great they were at Kentucky.

Since we’re talking point guards, it’s also important that these five players helped lead winning teams at UK. The point guard is the glue to a successful college basketball team, so great statistics on a so-so team may not be enough.

Let’s get started!
