9. Stephen Johnson

Passing stats: 4,342 yards, 23 TD, 12 INT

A modern-day Wildcat, Johnson quarterbacked two seasons at Kentucky, helping the team to 7-6 records and bowl games each season.

Both of Johnson’s teams were built to run the football, but he kept teams honest enough in the passing game, with a 57.5% completion rate. He completed about 60% of his passes in 2017 and set a personal career high with 2,305 passing yards.

Johnson was also a gifted runner, collecting 702 yards on the ground in his Kentucky football career. He scored 8 rushing TDs in two seasons, serving as a duel-threat QB alongside a talented backfield that included Benny Snell Jr.

While the passing game was secondary for the success of these UK teams, Johnson had some ‘boom’ games. He passed for 338 yards and 3 TD in a win over Louisville in 2016. The following season, a 298-passing-yard game was key in a win over Missouri.

Johnson may not have been a record-setting QB by any means, but he did the job and helped the Cats to two straight winning seasons. Sometimes, that’s all you can ask for.
