Following UConn’s 4th national championship in 2022, a lot of people were ready to move the Huskies above Kentucky in the Blue Blood rankings.

In case they needed more of a reason why the Huskies have the more impressive resume, this is at. UConn holds a 4-1 all-time record against UK, with the last two losses coming deep in the NCAA Tournament.

Of course, the Huskies took down Kentucky basketball in the 2014 national championship game. Three years before, UConn eliminated the Cats in the Final Four. Both losses still sting today.

In 2010, UConn breezed past Kentucky by 17 points in the Maui Invitational. The Wildcats were victorious in the 2009 SEC/Big East Invitational, but the Huskies won the first ever matchup between these schools in the 2006 NCAA Tournament round of 32.

It’s interesting to note that all five games played between UConn and Kentucky have been in some sort of tournament or challenge setting. However, three of UK’s losses have come in the NCAA Tournament, which isn’t the best selling point.
