When you think of Kentucky basketball, you think of a program that wins a lot of games. But some programs actually have the Wildcats’ number. In fact, only seven teams that have played the Wildcats at least twice, have winning records against them.

UK fans can breathe a small sigh of relief. All but one of the seven teams with success against the Cats come from power conferences, so the competition is still good. However, a few teams may come as a shock.

Kentucky basketball has never beaten USC, despite three games played between the two historic programs.

However, the Trojans aren’t the only team the Wildcats have missed the mark with. Five other teams, including three from the Big East, have had Kentucky’s number over the years.

For data purposes, a few teams had success against the Wildcats wayyyy back (I’m talking before the 1920s). According to bigbluehistory.net, these programs also have winning records against the Wildcats:

  • Central University: 9-7 record vs. Kentucky
  • DePauw: 3-1 record vs. Kentucky
  • Great Lakes: 2-0 record vs. Kentucky
  • Kentucky University: 6-5 record vs. Kentucky
  • NYU: 2-0 record vs. Kentucky
  • Phillips Oilers: 3-1 record vs. Kentucky

A few other YMCA/Church teams also had winning records against the Wildcats, but we don’t need to talk about that.
