Kentucky basketball transfer portal target Hunter Dickinson gave an update that might be a good sign for the Wildcats.

When you’re as talented as Hunter Dickinson, committing to a new school isn’t easy. The former Michigan big man is eyeing Kentucky basketball, but his list also includes the likes of Georgetown, Kansas, Maryland, and Villanova.

Dickinson is the unofficial best transfer in the portal, making him the top transfer yet to decide. However, that changes on May 4, because Dickinson will decide his new school on Thursday.

Hunter Dickinson’s latest podcast comments are great news for Kentucky basketball

On Tuesday, Dickinson gave an update on his decision-making process on the Barstool Roundball Podcast.

“I do hate how people think I’m trying to just drag this along,” Dickinson said. “If I knew where I was going, I would’ve happily made the decision sooner. I really am struggling trying to pick a school.”

Insert Brian Windhorst meme.

Why would Hunter Dickinson say something like that? Well, it might mean that he’s waiting on another top center in college basketball to make an important decision.

Back in April, Dickinson made some interesting comments about what it would take for him to suit up in a Wildcats jersey. In what seemed like an ultimatum, Dickinson said he would “love” to play for Kentucky basketball, but only if Tshiebwe doesn’t return. Of course, there probably isn’t any beef between the two, but the roster is only big enough for one of them to be the starting center. Dickinson would want to be that guy.

It seems as if Dickinson may have eliminated one school

On the same podcast episode, Dickinson also alluded to taking one school out of the running.

I mentioned earlier that Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, and Villanova have all had visits with the prized center. That’s five schools.

“I know I’ll succeed at any four of them, but it’s kind of just where I feel the most comfortable,” said Dickinson on the podcast.

Take a closer look.

“Any four of them.”

Could this mean that one school is already out of the running?

For what it’s worth, Dickinson only commented on his visits at Maryland, Kansas, Kentucky, and Villanova. No mention of Georgetown.

However, there’s also been no formal announcement of Georgetown not being in the running. Syracuse has also reportedly joined the list of serious contenders.

However, in a Tweet from On3’s Joe Tipton, these are the five schools Dickinson is choosing between:

My guess is as good as yours! Let’s hope Kentucky basketball gets the last say.
