The Kentucky baseball Wildcats follow up a win over the No. 1 LSU Tigers with another challenging week ahead.

Last week, Kentucky baseball took one of three meetings with LSU, the top-ranked team in college baseball. The lone win was a 13-10 offensive showcase. Kentucky put up five runs in both the 5th and 7th innings, en route to the victory. They handed the Tigers just their sixth loss of the season.

Jackson Gray, Emilien Pitre, and Chase Stanke all had three hits in the win. Stanke had a team-leading four RBIs.

Now, Kentucky baseball turns its focus to a week that includes a non-conference matchup and another SEC series. All four of Kentucky’s games this week are in Lexington.

Kentucky baseball schedule for week of Mon., Apr. 17:

  • Tue., Apr. 18: vs. Xavier (22-14, 4-2 in Big East) at 6:30 p.m.
    • How to watch: SEC Network Plus
  • Fri., Apr. 21: vs. Texas A&M (22-14, 7-8 in SEC) at 6:30 p.m.
    • SEC Network Plus

As the Wildcats’ baseball season starts to hit the final stretch, one thing to keep an eye on will be conference tournament seeding.

If the season ended today, the Cats would be the 5-seed in the SEC Tournament. The top four seeds all get first-round byes, so Kentucky hopes to catch South Carolina, who they only trail by 0.5 games.

It’s also important to note the significance of this week’s meeting with Texas A&M. The Wildcats haven’t won a series against the Aggies since they swept them in May of 2017. Kentucky has also lost four of its last five SEC games this season, and look to turn that around this week.

Finally, Kentucky baseball holds a 34-9 edge all-time against Xavier. The Wildcats are 18-2 in non-conference games this season.
