Former Kentucky football quarterback Will Levis has the potential to be a top-five pick in the 2023 NFL Draft according to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.
The hype is getting stronger as we are now just two full weeks away from the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Kentucky football star QB Will Levis is a projected first-round pick.
One mock draft by Todd McShay had Levis going to an NFC South team with the 14th pick.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. sees tremendous value in Levis. He has Levis being selected 4th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in his latest NFL mock draft.
Levis is also the 4th best overall player in Kiper’s latest big board, only trailing Bryce Young in the QB rankings.
Kiper has been pretty insistent on Levis’ potential outweighing his current skillsets. However, he also noted Levis’ lack of playmakers with Kentucky, and how that will be a much different case with any team that takes him in the NFL Draft.
Will Levis + Indianapolis Colts = perfect match
There’s no doubting Levis’ arm strength talent and ability to make impossible throws seem ordinary. In the age of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, Will Levis fits that same type of mold.
The Colts also have a very underrated passing game, highlighted by top receiver Michael Pittman Jr. Pairing a rookie quarterback and a top 20 wide receiver in the game screams of potential. The Colts also picked up speedy receiver Isaiah McKenzie, who comes over from the Buffalo Bills. McKenzie’s time spent with Josh Allen could help Levis if the Colts were to select him in the draft.
We also can’t forget about Jonathan Taylor, who is arguably the best running back in football when healthy. Giving a rookie quarterback this many weapons from the start is a recipe for success.
Should the Colts draft Will Levis 4th overall on April 27, his raw skillsets could be developed quickly with so many weapons to play with.
