Kentucky football: Levis, Rodriguez, Square cementing their place in UK history

Super Senior DeAndre Square is the driving force of the Wildcat defense
Brad White has built another stellar Kentucky football defense and has a depth of talent all across the field. However, the driving force and leader is DeAndre Square.
The inside linebacker isn’t huge standing 6-foot-1, 221-pounds, but he always seems to be around the ball and inspiring his teammates around him. Of course, he is a super senior now in his fifth season and hails from Detroit, Michigan.
Stats are not as glorious and impressive on the defensive side of the ball, but Square is close to an exclusive club needing just three more tackles to reach 300 for his Kentucky career. In that span, he has forced three fumbles and has three interceptions.
He leads the team with 52 tackles this year 25 solo and 27 assisted, both team highs.
Square has been on the field for the Wildcats since his freshman year now playing in his 55th game this Saturday. He brings solid pass coverage and is consistently the team leader in tackles and big plays.
No play bigger this year than his interception against Mississippi State to seal a 27-17 victory two weeks ago that snapped the Cat’s two-game losing streak. He also picked off the pass that cemented the UK win over Iowa in last year’s Citrus Bowl.
Square is on track to graduate in December by completing his degree in health promotion.
While Kentucky can’t win without a total team effort these three players will leave a mark in the Kentucky football archives for Big Blue Nation to remember for a long time.
