Chris Rodriguez makes Kentucky football run with a chip on his shoulder

Chris Rodriguez Jr., despite missing four games to start the season due to suspension, is back on track and taking aim at rising in the all-time rushing and scoring leaderboard.

He has scored 30 rushing touchdowns and caught three passes for scores for a total of 198 points which is good enough for seventh. Ironically just ahead of him is current place kicker Matt Ruffolo with 219 points.

Randal Cobb (2008-2010) and Taylor Begley (2002-2005) are tied with 226 points and Austin MacGinnis has 255 in third. Lones Siebert (305) and Benny Snell (290) occupy the two top spots.

C-Rod needs 200 more yards to surpass Moe Williams for third all-time just behind Snell (3,873) and Sonny Collins (3,835). He went over the 3,000-yard mark and now has 3,134.

Only Snell sits ahead of him in all-time rushing touchdowns with 48 and Rodriguez has hit the endzone 30 times.

We all remember where he ran 20 times for 107 yards in the win over Iowa in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl last season including the game-winning touchdown on a six-yard run with 1:48 remaining. He also scored on a five-yard pass on UK’s first possession.

As a kid, he pretended to be Marshawn Lynch, and he loves country music. We love his signature salute when he moves the chains for a first down or hits the endzone for a touchdown.

Rodriguez, a 5-foot-11, 224-pound senior from McDonough, GA., already graduated in May of 2022 with a degree in community and leadership development and is currently working on a second degree in communication.
