2. Limit Tennesee from reeling off explosive plays

As we are all aware, Tennessee has one of the best offenses in the country. One key component of their offensive success is their explosiveness. They rank 25th in the country when it comes to passing down explosiveness. Unfortunately for the Vols’, the Kentucky defense ranks top 25 in passing down explosiveness allowed. Kentucky defensively has all of the tools to limit the explosive Vols’ offense and make them methodically drive the ball down the field.

Kentucky has had two weeks to prepare for this offense while already having shut down a high-powered passing attack in the Mississippi State Rebels. The Kentucky defense held the Rebels to 203 passing yards and 5.5 yards per attempt. That game should give the Wildcat defense confidence in being able to withstand this Vols’ offense. They will not completely shut the Vols down, but can they limit them? Absolutely.
