Seriously, chill out the defense actually wasn’t as bad as you think

It took Kentucky 13 years to shut out a team until last week when they did it to Youngstown State 31-0 and that isn’t something that can be duplicated every week.

The defense continues to play well and despite giving up an opening drive touchdown to UNI of 75 yards, they buckled down from there giving up just 50 yards approaching halftime when Kavosiey Smoke fumbled for Kentucky and gave the Huskies the ball at the UK 34. They did manage to punch it in with just 6 seconds left in the half.

The third quarter saw the Kentucky defense in three possessions shut UNI down for 2 straight 3 and-outs and 13 plays totaling just 23 yards.

Northern Illinois’s hurry-up offense in the fourth quarter resulted in a field goal and late drive touchdown, but it wasn’t enough.

Jacquez Jones was all over the field leading the team with 12 tackles including four solo while DeAndre Square and Jordan Wright each had six tackles and Jordan Lovett chipped in with five.
