Homecoming weekend festivities on and off the field as UK rolls to 7th win

Venue: Kroger Field
City: Lexington, KY
Overall Matchup Record: Mississippi State leads the series 25-24
Last meeting: Mississippi State won 31-17 in 2021

Homecoming weekend, Keeneland racing, and an undefeated Kentucky football team could be just too much for Wildcat fans to handle  – but we’ll do our best to survive and get it all in.

If in fact, the Wildcats are a perfect 6-0 everything is in play and talk of great things will be brought up again.

Hold on!

We just went through this last year and it would be a carbon copy. Unfortunately, this is where things got derailed and UK went on to lose three straight games to Georgia, Tennessee and yes Mississippi State squeezed in the middle 31-17.

Kentucky played perhaps one of the worst games we have seen in a very long time as Levis was rattled, beaten, and bruised. Meanwhile, Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers who threw for 4,739 yards last season with 36 going for touchdowns and just nine interceptions is back for the Bulldogs.

Stoops won’t let that happen again and given the trend over the past decade between the Dogs and Cats things are in favor of the blue and white. Over the last seven years, the home team has won the game which bodes well for Kentucky this year.

Based on those factors and remembering how embarrassed they were look for Kentucky veterans to will their team to victory even it is not a thing of beauty. Kentucky’s defense has only allowed 7 and 2 points in the previous wins in Lexington and will need to duplicate that.

Another favorable thing for UK is that State will be coming off playing Arkansas but looking ahead to Alabama the following week with aspirations of taking down the Tide.

Kentucky narrowly escapes 20-17 and moves to 7-0.
