Kentucky football: C-Rod unknown return date means runningback by committee

Can the speedster Kavosiey Smoke light Kentucky football offense?
Kavosiey Smoke appeared in all but one game last season carrying 81 times for 416 yards and four touchdowns. He had one catch for 17 yards. In his UK career, he has 233 rushes for 1,036 yards and 12 touchdowns making his lone start against Mississippi State last year.
Known more for his speed and difficulty to bring down the 5-foot-9, 209-pounder from Wetumpka, Ala ranks 28th among Kentucky’s career-rushing leaders. He trails Randall Cobb by just seven yards and to crack the top 20 needs 224 to catch Lynn Bowden and JoJo Kemp is 15th with 1,709 yards.
He came to UK ranked as the 29th best back by Rivals choosing the Cats over South Carolina, Auburn, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Florida, and Virginia Tech.
Lest we forget though that Smoke is also a physical threat to block in the backfield as well. Against Florida, he leveled a pancake block that sprung Izayah Cummings free.
He told BBN Tonight Anna Marie Tarrullo following the win that blocking like that was something he did all through high school and loves to do it. Something tells me this may be a tool offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello may need to utilize.
