November is traditionally not always kind to the Kentucky football team who is desperately trying to find a way to stabilize their sinking season due to a three-game losing streak.   Here are the odds, injuries, how to watch, and a prediction for the Wildcats at Vanderbilt.

Somehow the Southeastern Gods have been angered by the Wildcats’ six-game winning streak to open the season and have turned the seas turbulent with consecutive losses to Georgia, Mississippi State, and last week a stunning, heartbreaking, and unbelievable 45-42 loss to Tennessee.

Even more astounding was the time of possession where UK had it in their hands for an eye-popping 46:08 minutes while the Vols ran 47 plays for 461 yards in only 13:52.

That won’t happen this week when Kentucky heads to the Music City to face a Vandy offense that isn’t very good. Yet, you can always expect the strange and bewildering when these teams hook up.

Kentucky football can clinch second place in the SEC East with a win

Kentucky won 38-35 last year in Lexington but that was the same week that coach John Schlarman passed away. The Wildcats took a delay of game on the opening possession to honor him.

Fast forward a year and now UK sits with a 6-3, 4-3 record in the SEC not too bad, and even better with a win today would clinch a second-place finish in the SEC East.

Big Blue has won five straight against the Commodores including four consecutive in Lexington.

Vandy hasn’t won an SEC game in over two years a span of 18 games. Their last win was October 19, 2019, over Missouri.

Kentucky is hoping to extend both of those streaks and wipe away this current three-game skid they are on.

The Wildcats have had someone rush for over 100 yards in the last four meetings between the two and need to happen again today. Maybe getting a pair over that would be nice.

Last year Chris Rodriguez Jr. carried the load with 13 rushes 149 yards and a career-high-tying two touchdown. He averaged 11.5 yards per attempt. No doubt he needs another performance like that not only for his confidence but for the team.

Kentucky football vs Vanderbilt Injury report

Coach Mark Stoops has been giving very little information on injuries this season simply saying “We’ll see” when asked in the media briefings.

However, thanks to Justin Rogers the injury report has some bright news with the possible return of nose tackle Marquan McCall who has been out since the Florida game. He practiced this week and could play today. Rogers said he is definitely ready. That would be a welcome site and bolster the defense that has been riddled with injuries this year.

For Vanderbilt, the uncertainty is a quarterback where Ken Seals has returned to practice after missing the last three games with a finger injury. But if not 100 percent healthy then Mike Wright will be behind center for his fourth start of the year.

Kentucky football vs Vanderbilt Odds and Betting Pick Week 11

WynnBET’s Week 11 odds have Kentucky as a -21 point favorite over Vandy. The matchup has an over/under of 52.5 points. The Moneyline has Kentucky -2,000 and the Commodores +1,000. They have Kentucky scoring 37 points and Vanderbilt 15.5.

Just the straight-up facts:

  • Kentucky is 6-3 against the spread this season.
  • Vanderbilt has 2 wins against the spread this season.
  • In head-to-head games, Kentucky leads 47-42-4
  • In Lexington last year Kentucky won 38-35
  • When Kentucky runs up over 463.7 yards, the team is 3-1 against the spread and 3-1 overall.
  • The Commodores have been underdogs by 21 points or more twice and have failed to cover the spread in either.

Will the tides turn in favor of the Wildcats or wash away what was on track to be a special season? I think the sun will shine in favor of the Cats and with two winnable games ahead they will finish 9-3 and head for their sixth straight bowl game under Stoops.

My early week prediction stands but I could see the Wildcats also getting things right and covering the spread.

Final score – Kentucky 34 – Vanderbilt 17
