Kentucky Basketball Game Tonight: Kentucky vs Robert Morris, Line, Predictions, Odds, TV Channel & Live Stream for Basketball Game Nov. 12

The Kentucky basketball team is back on the court tonight after a hard-fought and tough loss to Duke on Tuesday in the Champions Classic.

Big Blue regroups back home in Rupp Arena tonight in the first of seven straight home games taking on Robert Morris in The Kentucky Classic, a two-game stretch tonight, and another Kentucky Classic home game Tuesday against Mount St. Marys.

Despite a solid roster mixed with veteran transfers and returning players, UK wasn’t cohesive enough or long enough to outduel Duke.  Kentucky grabbed its first lead early into the second half, after hanging around, but promptly dug itself a 15 point hole that it couldn’t dig itself out of before falling 77-71.

The three freshmen played and contributed very little with Bryce Hopkins and Damion Collins each only getting two minutes apiece of floor minutes. TyTy Washington got a rude awakening to the college game.

Kentucky basketball should have many players get valuable minutes

Calipari will get him some quick sets to get his confidence back on track instead of forcing shots and plays as he did against Duke. That wore him down mentally and physically and Cal sent him to the bench to observe in the closing minutes.

Assistant Coach Bruiser Flint addressed the media earlier this week in place of Calipari and said what the coaches would like to see and what they liked.

"“I think we can get to the line a little bit more,” Flint said. “Just getting to the line more, maybe posting the ball a little bit more. Also, when you get into games, you can figure out who can do what……The biggest thing is, you’re not looking out there and saying we didn’t play hard enough,” Flint said. “As long as you don’t worry about that, you can coach the other things. You never want to have to coach effort and we didn’t have to worry about that at all.”"

Collins and Hopkins should see much more action tonight showing Calipari what they can do against regular-season completion. Collins can be the third man down low behind Oscar Tshiebwe and Lance Ware.

Speaking of Tshiebwe, he was clearly the beast and the show stopper for the Wildcats on Tuesday. The 6-foot-9, 225-pounder kept his team in the game leading Kentucky with 17 points, 20 rebounds including 12 on the offensive end, two blocks, one assist, and a steal.

He will get his double-double with ease tonight and should give way to Ware and Hopkins early for some quality playing time. Ware has been working just as hard as Tschiebwe and is much more ready to enter the game and compete than last season.

Could we see CJ Fredrick for the first time tonight? He had surgery over the summer and has yet to play, although he was available against Duke, but that would have been the wrong situation to put him in. Tonight should be the night to see just what a knock-down shooter he is.

Kentucky vs Robert Morris Prediction Tonight

We all know the first time these teams met was in the NIT following Kentucky winning the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, Kentucky suffered one of the most humiliating losses it has had 59-57 on the Colonials home floor. UK did win 87-49 the following year.

The Colonials had a rough 2020-21 season going just 4-15 and emptying over half its roster at the conclusion. Seven new players including many transfers now make up the roster.

They do return two starters in sophomore guard Kam Farris and senior forward Kahliel Spear. The pair combined to score 319 points in 2020-21. Spear, a 6-foot-7 220-pound transfer from Bucknell, averaged 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 18 games for RMU last year and blocked 23 shots.

RMU can shoot from downtown Farris shoot 46-percent from 3-point range, and Farron Flavros Jr. drained 43-percent behind the arc.

Calipari will be looking to get a lot more players’ time on the court and working combinations so this game won’t be an early runaway. Just how long he sticks with the original starters will play into that.
