The last time that Kentucky was 6-0 was 1950 and this was happening
Not since 1950 have the Wildcats started a season 6-0.
To put that in perspective:
- Harry Truman was in office and announced he was developing the hydrogen bomb
- the Korean War began in June of that same year
- this same week that year Charles Shultz’s Peanuts comic strip made its debut.
- “All The Kings Men” won Best Picture
- “Goodnight Irene” was the most played in stores by DJ’s and on Jukeboxes
- The most watch TV show was “The Lone Ranger”
Oh, and on October 7, 1950 No. 6 Kentucky defeated Dayton 40-0 for its fourth shutout of the season in four games having beaten LSU in Week 2 14-0. They would finish that season 11-1 with the only loss coming in the final regular-season game to Tennessee 7-0.
