The Kentucky football team (2-0, 1-0 SEC) looks to build upon an undefeated start after two games, including a hard-fought 35-28 win over Missouri last Saturday in their Southeastern Conference opener. It wasn’t the prettiest win, but as long as it goes in the W column we’ll take it.

This week they get to iron out the rough spots from that win including fumbles, interceptions, special teams, and defense against an FCS team in UT Chattanooga. Here are the odds and predictions for Week 3.

The two teams have never met on the field and it’s pretty safe to say this game should be well in the books by halftime.

The Mocs (1-1) defeated North Alabama 20-0 last week after losing 30-20 to Austin Peay in week 1.

In those two games, Chattanooga has rushed for 293 total yards and three touchdowns. When they go to the air they are 21 of 48 passing for 245 yards, four interceptions, and just one touchdown.

The Mocs have only converted 7 of 28 third-down conversions while allowing nine sacks. I’d say this will be Kentucky defensive coach Brad White’s opportunity to blitz, blitz, and more blitz and finally, get his defense into an opponent’s backfield. Something they couldn’t do against Mizzou. Kentucky needs sacks in the worst way. It took nearly three full quarters to record one on Saturday.

Kentucky has rushed for 487 yards on the ground so far averaging 242.5 per game and has six touchdowns. Passing they are 32-51 with a pair of picks for 598 yards and two TDs. The Wildcats are 14-23 on third-down conversions and 10 for 12 in the Red Zone.

Mark Stoops is 7-0 all-time coaching against FCS schools and little doubt this streak will continue.

Playing in the Southern Conference the Mocs are content with staying FCS and taking their beatings at the hands of the bigger schools while trying to compete in the conference. In fact, they are winless since 2000 in games against SEC schools in 10 tries and 0-14 lining up with Power Five conference teams.

The Mocs’ most recent contest taking on an SEC foe came in 2019, a 45-0 loss to Tennessee in Knoxville.

This week will be Kentucky’s game that has to be streamed so you better have SEC+ or ESPN+ if you are hoping to watch it. Kickoff is slated for Noon.

Kentucky vs Chattanooga Odds Week 3

The Week 3 betting odds on WynnBET do not currently have a line for the game. If there are any released you have to believe Kentucky would be maybe a six-touchdown favorite.

Kentucky vs Chattanooga Prediction Week 3

Last week it was Christopher Rodriguez Jr. bulldozing his way to 206 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns along with his first catch for a touchdown.  Yes, pair of touchdowns the SEC corrected the obvious error of his second goalline fumble of the game that was originally ruled a TD for Rodriguez.

As I pointed out Eli Cox should have been credited for the recovery touchdown which he now has been.

C-Rod will get his carries but look for Kavosiey Smoke to get a bunch in this game

Wan’Dale Robinson rushed three times for 73 yards while pulling in five catches for 103 yards.

Josh Ali went over 1,000 career receiving yards in the win as well.

Last week I didn’t predict a blowout, and in fact had Kentucky winning 35-27, just one point off.

This week will be the opposite. The question is just how many points will UK put up. If they weren’t trying to iron out a bunch of issues you would see a lot more reserves playing. That won’t be the case though.

Look for Kentucky run wild in this Family Weekend game while the angry defense comes to play. My prediction is Kentucky 55, Chattanooga 6.
