Kentucky finally beats LSU again, the first time since 2007.

LSU will roll into Lexington in week 6, they’re also in a bit of a weird spot. Just two years removed from convincingly winning their first National Title since Les Miles was still there in 2007 which was also the last time Kentucky beat the then ranked #1 Tigers in a three-overtime thriller. LSU vastly underperformed under Ed Orgeron in 2020 finishing just 5-5 after losing Heisman winner Joe Burrow to the NFL.

Let’s just start by saying thank heavens Kentucky doesn’t play LSU very often and the game isn’t in Death Valley which came after Deaf Valley prior to 1959. It’s a vicious place to play for any team to come into especially at night.

Kroger Field will be much nicer.

Kentucky and LSU haven’t met since 2014, and that was a game many fans would like to forget. An absolute embarrassing loss in Baton Rouge 41-3. LSU also owns the series 40-16, but Kentucky also isn’t Kentucky from 2014 either. This should be a very winnable game for Kentucky, one that Kentucky really needs to win if they lose the week before to Florida.

A two-game losing streak could put a nail in the coffin of a historically good Kentucky football season, and with basketball coming right around the corner could cause a lot of fans to check out.

I don’t foresee another miracle in the works for LSU, I see this being a fairly boring game and potentially sloppy, hard pounding one. Any time teams meet that aren’t too familiar with each other on the field or having staff who aren’t familiar with each other can make for a very weird game where both sides try feeling the other out for three quarters.

The Wildcats have to come out of this hard-hitting affair injury-free.

The only Bluegrass miracle I see in week 6 is Kentucky narrowly getting its 5th win of the season, and at 5-1 it’s very likely this would be the week they would finally garner the media and coaches respect and crack the top 25.
