Kentucky Football: 2021 schedule released, SEC Championship or bust
Kentucky declares battle on the Warhawks and induces surrender 45-14.
Many media members have already come out and said Kentucky has the easiest schedule in the conference. While I don’t completely disagree with that sentiment, it’s also worth mentioning Kentucky had one of the toughest schedules in their history in 2020.
Kentucky never really had a chance to get those needed tune-up games to work out the kinks. Luckily this year, they’ve got a few nonconference foes to beat up on and work out any bugs in Liam Coen’s new offense.
Kentucky and Louisiana Monroe have met five times all-time, and surprisingly the first-ever matchup the Warhawks got the victory way back in 1994. Since then it’s been all Kentucky averaging more than 40 points a game against ULM in four straight victories. The last time the two teams met in Lexington in 2014 the Wildcats won 48-14.
Unfortunately for ULM they’re first up on the chopping block. ULM had an abysmal 2020 campaign in the Sun Belt Conference as the Warhawks were winless in 10 outings. Not only is ULM a non-power five opponent they’re a bad one, and they’re ripe to be blown out. I look for Kentucky to get up early and have a big lead at halftime, all game long Kentucky’s defense will smother the Warhawk offense.
ULM averaged just 16 points per game in 2020 while allowing 42.
Kentucky rushers will have many rushes for over 20 yards, and Wan’Dale Robinson torches the ULM defense all game long. Kentucky pulls off the gas late in the fourth quarter, and ULM starts to be able to move the ball around on offense with Kentucky’s second and third team in the game. ULM scores one more time, and Kentucky runs the clock out with a victory in hand. Kentucky racks up 400+ yards of offense, and the defense has multiple takeaways.
Kentucky record 1-0.
