Does Kentucky football need another QB?

Kentucky Football seems to have eyes on another quarterback. Penn State QB Will Levis announced on Thursday that he is leaving the Penn State program and will enter the transfer portal.

According to KSR Levis is all over new offensive coordinator Liam Coen‘s radar. Levis is set to graduate this spring and would have three years of eligibility left.

Why would Kentucky need another quarterback would probably be the biggest question Kentucky fans would be asking? It doesn’t make sense? Kentucky has studs like Beau Allen, Joey Gatewood, and Kaiya Sheron on the roster. Kentucky is also in the running to land one of the top quarterback in the nation in Owensboro’s Gavin Wimsatt. Seems like a pretty crowded quarterback room right?

There is no such thing as too many quarterbacks. Don’t believe me? Take a look back at 2019, Kentucky had to turn to wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. to fulfill the duties at quarterback after losing Terry Wilson and Sawyer Smith to injuries. No other quarterback on the roster was deemed ready to play, and the best option was a wide receiver. Seems pretty fitting that having another pass thrower on the roster wouldn’t have been a bad thing.

Levis has never really had the reins turned over to him as a starting quarterback and it’s likely he could fight with the other quarterbacks on the roster for the job. Levis is a dynamic playmaker who has the makings of an NFL quarterback, he just needs an opportunity and he could find it at Kentucky. I’ve never quite seen an arm like his, and he would have plenty of weapons around him.

In minimal action, Levis has already racked up enough rushing yards to be the tenth-ranked all-time rusher for a quarterback in Penn State history. When you see what the kid can do throwing the ball it will leave you no doubt as to why Coen is drooling over this kid.

Levis throws one of the tightest spirals I think I’ve ever seen, and effortlessly. His ability to take off and run makes him even more desirable. This is an ongoing story, and it’s not yet known where Levis ends up, but he could definitely shake things up in the Kentucky quarterback room in 2021.
