Boston can’t find the light – or shot

Just as the rest of the team has seen the light Brandon Boston continues to be lost in the fog both with his shot, play and confidence.

The SEC broadcasters Tom Hart and Jon Sundvold made the point that only players can find and regain their own confidence and yet despite all of Calipari’s efforts and encouragement Boston’s seems to be slipping further into the abyss.

When we needed him against Vanderbilt he was 3-for-9 shooting, didn’t attempt a three nor did he get to the foul line, and had a single assist and turnover.

Boston leads all players with 280 minutes on the court yet has made just 43 of 120 field goals (.358-percent), is 5 of 33 behind the arc (.158%). Somehow he leads the team in scoring at 12.1 points per game, has 11 assists and 17 turnovers, and 11 steals.

His play even drew boos from the 3,000 or so live fans in Rupp Arena. At one point he headed to the bench and walked sulking right past Calipari who was trying to talk to him.

Calipari said after the game he doesn’t give up on players at all and any negativity should come his way and not Boston’s. If he is still considered a top 10 NBA draft prospect this year he needs to stand up, find his poise, shot, confidence game, or whatever.

"“I don’t give up on any player and BJ will revert back sometimes to what he knows best and those flip shots and not get fouled. All the things we worked on in practice he didn’t do today. A one or two-step floater he didn’t take it. He came out because defensively they came right at him and he didn’t stand and fight.”"

With Terrence Clark and Keion Brooks still injured Boston has to play but just how much if both of these return is yet to be seen.
