Mark Stoops is still the man.

In a season that may always have an asterisk next to it thanks to Covid-19, Mark Stoops against all odds was able to guide his team through a 10-game all-SEC schedule. At one point in time, it was a mystery if Kentucky would even accept a bowl invitation, let alone get invited to such a prestigious bowl game like the Gator Bowl and winning against a quality opponent.

Winning at Kentucky isn’t easy, and it’s just what Stoops has been able to do. Completely change the culture, and his famous saying “I mean why, not Kentucky right?”

Some, myself included would argue Kentucky is the toughest college coaching job in the country. Not only that but cleaning up the mess left by former head coach Joker Phillips made the job even more difficult. Some, and once again myself included have had times where there was doubt whether Stoops was the coach to turn this program around.

All that doubt came to an end in 2018 when Kentucky won 10 games and a Citrus Bowl against Penn State.

Stoops is also in a rare territory at Kentucky edging closer to the Wildcats having an all-time winning record currently at 627-632-44. He too can overtake the all-time great Bear Bryant with 60 wins, and almost has a winning record at 49-50.

All that being said, Kentucky has won another bowl game one many thought they shouldn’t. BBN can sleep easy tonight, the football program is in great hands.
