Kentucky Fans need to thank Terry Wilson.

Terry Wilson is quite possibly the most controversial player to ever line up at quarterback for Kentucky… since I have been alive anyway. No other signal-caller has been such a hot topic for Kentucky fans, but love him or hate him Terry Touchdown needs to be in a special place in all of our hearts.

What Wilson was able to do on the field wasn’t always pretty, but he got the job done more so than many quarterbacks to play in Lexington.

He was able to break streaks that haunted Kentucky fans. In his first season, Wilson led his team to Gainesville, Florida, and shocked the college football world by upsetting the Florida Gators.

Something Kentucky had not done since 1986, still to this day one of the only times my wife has seen me cry. Terry led that team to an improbable season, finishing with 10 wins for the first time since 1977 and an upset victory over blue blood program Penn State in the Citrus Bowl.

Touchdown Terry never gave up when many would, after suffering a season-ending injury last season #3 led a struggling 2020 Kentucky team down to Knoxville to get its first victory in the Volunteer State since 1984.

Never has there ever been so much mystery behind backup quarterbacks in the Terry Wilson era, Wilson always got it done when many in BBN were calling for his job.

His performance in today’s Gator Bowl was similar to what has been seen in the past, game managing and minimizing mistakes. Nothing flashy, nothing that is going to fill the stat sheet up or win him a Heisman Trophy but, it was good enough to send him out a winner… a winner that he’s always been.
