4-Star Offensive Lineman Jager Burton

Kentucky loses several members of the Big Blue Wall and homegrown and 4-star recruiter Burton looks to make an immediate impact. He is ranked No.135 nationally and the No. 9 guard by 24/7 Sports and tops in Kentucky.

I have seen this kid play personally at Frederick Douglass and he is an absolute beast, leader, and team captain.

Burton was scheduled to play in the All-American Bowl but that was canceled due to Covid-19.

Barton Simmons, 247 Sports Director of Scouting, broke down Burton’s play in the NBC Sports Network series.

"“Jager Burton is one of the most athletic offensive linemen in the class of 2021. That’s any way you want to define athleticism, whether it’s just the eye-test in terms of his ability to play in space, to be an athlete as a blocker, to be a puller, show lateral movement in pass protection; or whether it’s the testing in the combine setting where he has a fantastic shuttle, a strong 40-yard dash, vertical and all those measurements. But this is a kid that’s also very physical. He’s got strong punch. He’s got a nice frame. I would expect him to be a multiple year starter at the next level and have a great opportunity to play in the NFL.”"

At 6′-4′ and 271-pounds Burton already is a load and it appears Wolford likes his lineman a little leaner and faster on the next Big Blue Wall. Burton is quick off the snap and moves so well laterally and will provide good pass protection for Joey Gatewood or Beau Allen and open holes for Christopher Rodriguez Jr.and Kavosiey Smoke.

When he played he exudes so much confidence and you can tell his teams rally around his enthusiasm and love of football. He is dynamic and fun to watch even as a lineman. I have to believe you are looking at a future captain and NFL draft selection.

Stoops and Vince Marrow had to know this was the one big piece they wanted, got, and kept on signing day. A true winner for this class.
