4. Khalil Whitney Flashed Some Impressive Potential

Sometimes the best gifts come in small packages. In just a one-minute span in the first half, Khalil Whitney flashed his potential, something that has been absent since the beginning of SEC play.

It is crazy that a missed dunk is memorable, but it wasn’t the miss as much as it was the aggression. As Mike Morgan and Jon Sundvold mentioned during the broadcast on SEC Network, Whitney wants to get more minutes. Whitney showed the type of energy and activity that Cal loves.

Whitney’s drive to the basket at the 3:47 mark of the first half, that drew an aggressive foul, showed what he is capable of. The missed dunk and goaltending call in the first half, as well as an unnecessary save attempt at a ball going out of bounds, show that Whitney is finding a way to harvest energy in a positive direction for Kentucky, all the while trying to earn more playing time.
