Bam Adebayo, Bam-Bam, Kentucky great, SEC champ, and Lebron James.
Which of these is not like the other?
Well, this week, the NBA announced it’s Week 8 Players of the Week and Bam Adebayo was honored alongside the world’s greatest basketball player, Lebron James.
Quite an honor for the former Kentucky great who is blossoming into a veritable NBA Star.
Bam Adebayo, who plays for the red-hot Miami Heat (no pun intended), represented the Eastern Conference, while Lebron took home the Western Conference honors.
At just 22 years of age, the former Kentucky big man is the second-youngest Miami Heat player to earn the award since its inception.
During Week 8, Adebayo tallied the following stat line: 20.0 points,1.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He also spearheaded the Heat’s two victories in the three games during the week.
Check out this highlight reel of his week:
Last Tuesday, Adebayo shattered more records. In his 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists performance against the Atlanta Hawks, Bam became the youngest Miami Heat player to record a triple-double. At 22 years and 145 days old, Adebayo breaks Dwyane Wade’s previous record of 22 years and 348 days.
It didn’t stop there.
Only four days later Bam-Bam did it again. In a 122-118 win over Dallas, Adebayo recorded another triple-double finishing with18 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds, as well as two blocks and two steals.
Adebayo, in his third year in the NBA, is averaging 15.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.
Bam played one year as a Wildcat (2016–17 ), where he went 32-6 and earned Second-Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team honors. After a heartbreaking buzzer-beater loss to North Carolina in the Elite Eight, he declared for the NBA Draft. He was then selected by the Heat with the No. 14 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
