The Los Angeles Lakers have three former Kentucky Wildcats on their roster. Can these former Wildcats help bring a championship to LA?

Although they never played together at Kentucky, Rajon Rondo, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins all played for the big blue. They all have had very succesful NBA careers and continue to be among the best players in the league.

Rondo played under coach Tubby Smith from 2004-2006 leading the Wildcats in assists and helping them reach the Elite Eight in his freshman season. DeMarcus was apart of the 2009-10 team which was coach Calipari’s first season at Kentucky. They were SEC regular and tournament champions reaching the Elite Eight. Davis played on the 2011-12 team, winning a National Championship. That team finished 38-2 and is considered one of the best Kentucky Wildcat teams of all time.

Wildcat fans will remember when these former Cats linked up during the 2017-18 on the New Orleans Pelicans, sweeping the #3 seeded Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. Although Boogie had gotten hurt and missed the playoffs, Davis and Rondo put on a stellar performance. Playoff Rondo was unstoppable until he got injured. The front court of AD and Boogie was dominant but it only lasted for one season.

Fast forward to the 2019-20 season and they all are reunited on the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled as of recent, not making the playoffs in the last seven season. However there is something different about this team. They have three former Kentucky Wildcats on their roster and Lebron James. Do not forget their coach Frank Vogel who is also a Kentucky alum and started off as a student manager.

If the former Cats can play at a high level and everyone stays healthy the Lakers will be a lock for the championship this season. There is nothing better than seeing former Kentucky Wildcats winning the NBA championship.
