B.J. Boston

Over the weekend, Kentucky picked up a massive commitment from five-star wing Brandon Boston Jr. While I’ve written a few tidbits about Boston since his pledge, he remains in many ways a mystery as a prospect. Later this week, I’ll research him a bit more and try to give you all a more in-depth breakdown, but for now, I’ll settle for what I know for sure about BJ.

  1. Brandon “Bag of Bones” Boston. This kid makes Kendall Jenner self-conscious about her weight and he’s thinner than that piece of paper Brad Calipari can’t jump over. BJ and Rob Harris (strength coach) can go ahead and arrange for a priest to wed them because they’ll be tied to each other like Ducky and Bunny from Toy Story 4 next summer.
  2. Lightning Bolt. I’m sure you’ve all seen a lightning bolt when it forms and electrifies the sky. You know how–in less than half a second–it forms and flashes in a zigged-zagged line? That’s Boston going to the rim: a pure lightning bolt. He possesses its narrowness, blink speed, and electrifying change of direction.
  3. Two. He is a two-point offensive player. Threes are not a strong suit of his quite yet. The foundation has been laid (he’s a decent free-throw shooter and has fixable mechanics), but Boston fails to shoot the deep ball with efficiency or a pleasant form.

There’s a quick BJ Boston primer. I hope that can tide you over. (BONUS: I would compare Boston to Jarrett Culver, formerly of Texas Tech. And I really really love that comp).
