Yusuf Corker

Around the BBN, Corker is the name that’s been tossed around regarding a replacement for Robinson (sweet, sweet alliteration). Kentucky Football defensive back coach Steve Clinkscale spoke very highly of Corker on “The Leach Report” this morning. Here’s what old man Steve had to say:

"“On the interior side, Yusuf Corker will be the gentleman that had a really good spring and we thought was kind of getting to that level of Davonte. He was showing us really good signs of making plays and being a leader and getting the calls out. He’s kind of come into his own.”"

I love that phrase. “I’ve come into my own.” Like what does that even mean? Grammatically, it really makes no sense. And conceptively, it’s a vague phrase that holds little value and is generally deployed as a makeshift compliment to essentially suggest yeah, that person is getting good at what they’re doing. But someone’s “own” doesn’t necessarily have to be good, does it? You could say well, Dirk Diggler really came into his own after he ditched his parents to star in adult films and snort cocaine since Mark Wahlberg’s character’s “own” in Boogie Nights is winning awards with his crotch prosthetic and getting whacked out on white powder. I digress…

Must Read. Josh Allen Named All-Decade. light

Corker (this is such a ludicrous transition, I’m sorry folks), is big-bodied for someone just six feet tall and has utilized the Wildcats weight room quite efficiently. Like Ajian, Corker will be just a redshirt sophomore this season with plenty of room to grow. Take Stevie’s words because we know they’re far more accurate and descriptive than my own. He’s a Kentucky Football coach for goodness sakes!
