Kevin Knox decided to put his name into the 2018 NBA Draft last week. Several mock drafts have Knox going in the lottery. What NBA team might be the best fit for Knox?
Kevin Knox put his name into the 2018 NBA Draft. Knox is 6’9″, 215-pounds and is only 18 years old. He has a soft touch on his floater in the lane and can knock down the three-point shot. Given his age, size and shooting capabilities, he will be a very coveted player in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Most mock drafts have Knox being selected in the Top 15. NBADraft.net has him going No. 11 to Charlotte. Reid Forgrave of CBS Sports has Knox headed to the Mile High City to play for the Nuggets. Of the NBA teams likely to be drafting early, which one would be the best fit for Knox?
Phoenix Suns
How about the University of Kentucky-Southwest, also known as the Phoenix Suns? The Suns have been a destination for several former Wildcats over the years. Current players Devin Booker and Tyler Ulis played for Coach Cal at Kentucky.
Phoenix is in last place in the Western Conference, and would likely not select Knox with their first overall pick. The Suns also possess Milwaukee and Miami’s first-round selections as well. The Suns are desperate for talent at almost every position, and would love the addition of a young player like Knox.
Philadephia 76ers
Wouldn’t this be a sweet landing spot for Kevin Knox? The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the most young and exciting teams in the NBA. With young stars like Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, the Sixers look ripe to ascend towards the top of the Eastern Conference.
Philly possesses the Lakers first-round pick in this year’s draft. After selecting Markelle Fultz No. 1 overall last season, and Simmons in the same spot the year before, the addition of Knox would give the 76ers another weapon on the perimeter.
Denver Nuggets
Another up and coming team in the NBA is the Denver Nuggets. Denver is currently battling for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Richard Jefferson is getting long in the tooth and Wilson Chandler is slated to become a free agent in 2019. Knox would be a perfect addition to the Nuggets.
Another former Wildcat, Jamal Murray, runs point for this talented and exciting young team. The Nuggets employ and uptempo brand of basketball. Knox’s outside shooting would help compliment the strong inside presence of Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap.
There are certainly more teams that would love to have the services of Kevin Knox at their disposal, but given his age, it would be nice to see Knox get drafted to a contender that doesn’t need his help right away or a team that is rebuilding. Either way, Knox will likely be happy with which ever team selects him in this June’s NBA Draft.
