Ashton Hagans, who recently decommitted from Georgia, just got an offer from the Cats. If Hagans reclassifies and joins the Wildcats, will Quade Green transfer?

Ashton Hagans, the No. 1 overall point guard in the class of 2019, just received an offer from the University of Kentucky. Hagans, who recently decommitted from Georgia, is said to be thinking of reclassifying to next year’s class. If Hagans joins the Kentucky Wildcats next year, will Quade Green transfer?

Quade Green had a tough first season in Lexington. Green was a 5-star recruit out of Philadelphia and the No. 5-ranked point guard by 247Sports last season. Green was the presumptive starting point guard for Kentucky heading into last season.

Green played well to start the season, averaging 10.4 points through the first 12 games. Quade suffered a back injury and missed three games in the early part of conference-play. During that time, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played outstanding basketball and replaced Green as the Wildcats starting point guard.

After returning from injury, Green’s points per game dropped to 8.1, and the normally confident Green appeared to lose his swagger. With Gilgeous-Alexander and Hamidou Diallo likely headed to the NBA, Green will be the only backcourt player returning for UK with any experience. However, Immanuel Quickley, the 15th-ranked recruit by 247Sports has already committed to play for the Cats in 2018.

According to Evan Daniels of 247Sports, Ashton Hagans was just offered a scholarship by Kentucky. Hagans revealed earlier this week through the Courier Journal that an offer from Kentucky “would be a blessing.” He also expressed his knowledge of John Calipari’s ability to get players ready for the NBA.

With Quickley and 4-star recruit Tyler Herro already committed to UK, the addition of Hagans (who may reclassify to the class of 2018) would be another top-notch addition to the Wildcats’ backcourt. Would that amount of talent sway Quade Green to look elsewhere for more playing time?

A lot has to happen first, but an overcrowded backcourt might definitely give Green some incentive to consider other options. If Hagans does reclassify and commit to Kentucky and Quade stays put, a backcourt of Green, Quickley, Heroo and Hagans could be dominant.
