Kentucky basketball: Player grades for 2017-2018 season
By Drew Koch
Quade Green may have been the barometer for Kentucky’s success this season. On the big stage, when the lights shined brightest, and Green was on his game, the Cats won. But, if Green was nonexistent in the big games, the Wildcats really struggled.
Green brought a certain swagger to the Kentucky Wildcats this season. After getting poked in the eye against Monmouth, Green wore an infamous pair of glasses in the following game against Virginia Tech. Green dropped 17 in that game, and UK won 93-86.
Green had a roller coaster season. The back injury he suffered in January led to him being demoted to a bench role in favor of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Green had several games when he was the Wildcats’ best shooter. In other games, he virtually disappeared.
Green, much like Washington, can be a leader for the Wildcats heading into the 2018-19 season. I doubt Green regains his starting role, as Immanuel Quickley will likely be running point for UK next season. Even though, Green will be an important cog for the Wildcats next season.
