3. Another one-man wrecking crew
Kentucky basketball fans have seen this before; an opposing player that the Wildcats just cannot stop from scoring. Kentucky really struggled to stop Wes Clark from Buffalo today, who was a VERY good scorer. Most of his chances came from UK’s primary defensive weakness: guarding ball-screens.
Kentucky tried switching ball-screens, and Clark hit tough, contested three-point shots. The Cats tried the hedge-and-recover, and continually got beat. I would like to see John Calipari try to trap the ball handler out of ball-screens, especially with a hot player like Clark.
Hats off to Wes Clark though. The kid is a really talented basketball player and gifted scorer. Kentucky needs to improve their defensive scheme moving forward for pick and roll situations though.
