In the SEC Tournament semi-finals, the Kentucky basketball team looked like the real deal as they defeated Alabama 86-63. UK has now defeated Georgia and Alabama in this year’s SEC Tournament, looking better and better in each game. Here are my 5 “rushed reactions” from Kentucky’s semi-final victory against Alabama.

1. Wenyen Gabriel = Beast

Wenyen Gabriel, stand up and take a bow! Gabriel connected on SEVEN three-pointers against Alabama! To make it even more impressive, he was 7 for 7 from behind deep! This is remarkable mostly because at this exact same time last year, I cringed every time Wenyen attempted a shot.

In yesterday’s game, I immediately stood up from my seat at ScottTrade Center as soon as the ball left his hands. BBN certainly should not expect Wenyen to continue making seven 3-point shots per game. But if Gabriel is able to knock down 2 or 3 again today against Tennessee, then that’s the confidence that makes him really dangerous in the NCAA Tournament. Look for Gabriel to get some early 3-point attempts against Tennessee on Sunday.
