The Kentucky basketball team defeated Georgia in the quarterfinals of the 2018 SEC Tournament on Friday afternoon. Here are my 5 rushed reactions from the Wildcats 62-49 win.

Here’s your first-ever postseason edition of “Rushed Reactions”, coming at you from St. Louis. I was there in person on Friday to watch the Kentucky basketball team’s 62-49 win over Georgia. This was Kentucky’s first game of the SEC Tournament, a convincing win even without Jarred Vanderbilt. Here are my 5 “rushed reactions” from UK’s SEC Tournament opener.

1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the leader

I noticed today Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is undoubtedly the leader of this year’s team. After each foul, it was SGA that made sure the 5 Wildcats on the floor huddled up together. When offensive plays weren’t executed correctly it was SGA that that helped his teammates out. When Calipari was trying to making a coaching point across the floor, it was SGA that always looked over to make sure he was getting Cal’s message.

Calipari wanted Hamidou Diallo to be this team’s leader. Then Calipari wanted PJ Washington to be the leader. But having watched this game in person, I can assure you that this team is led, verbally and physically, by Gilgeous-Alexander.
