Aside from Kevin Knox, will Kentucky basketball lose any more players
By Drew Koch
The Kentucky basketball team plays its final home game on Wednesday night against the Ole Miss Rebels. Kevin Knox is all but a lock to leave for the NBA at the end of the season. Will UK have any other departures?
The Kentucky basketball team closes out Rupp Arena for the 2017-18 season when they take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday night. Though no seniors will be honored on Senior Day, a few members of this year’s UK team are expected to make the leap to the pros in the off-season.
Kevin Knox has been arguably the best player on the Kentucky basketball team this season. Knox’s size 6’9″ and ability to knock down open three-pointers make him the perfect fit for an NBA roster. Big Blue Nation knows that Wednesday night’s game against the Rebels is their last chance to see Knox at Rupp Arena. Are any other Cats going to join him?
One could make the case that Jarred Vanderbilt, Hamidou Diallo and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could all, at the very least, test the NBA waters this off-season. Also, given the limited minutes he’s played this season, Sacha Killeya-Jones may be looking for another destination to finish his college career.
The Kentucky basketball program seemingly turns over every year. Sometimes the fans can predict who’s leaving the moment they arrive on campus. Then others outplay their potential and skyrocket up scout’s draft boards. This year gives BBN a lot of unpredictability.
There are a few players that I think all of Big Blue Nation can expect back next season. Nick Richards, Wenyen Gabriel, Quade Green and PJ Washington should all return to play for John Calipari and the Kentucky basketball program in 2018-19. Those 4 players will give Coach Cal a great group of veterans to help lead the Cats next season.
