3. Quade Green, have a day buddy!

Quade Green played the best game that I’ve seen him play this season. It’s too easy and too ignorant to base a player’s performance on their scoring stats. Green was much more than a scorer today, and that’s why the Cats won.

Green’s pass to Kevin Knox in the corner for a momentum-building three-pointer was a game-winning type play. When the Cats needed offensive rebounds late in the game, Quade was there to grab them. UK was in need of clutch scoring plays down the stretch, and Green was the player to get those assists. When the Kentucky basketball team needed a leader, Green was there to stabilize the team and coach his teammates.

Also worthy of being mentioned, how about Green’s defense down the stretch? Quade did an excellent job late in the game staying glued to Alabama’s Colin Sexton. Sexton is one of the top guards in the SEC, and Green took it upon himself to shut down Sexton down the stretch.

Quade’s defense has been fairly suspect this season, but not today. His court awareness, shooting, leadership and ball-handling were all terrific today. For BBN, it’s great news that at this point in the season, we are seeing Quade playing his best basketball of the year.
