Kentucky basketball: Game preview, 3 keys vs Tennessee
By Drew Koch
1. The Kentucky basketball team must stop Schofield and Williams
Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams absolutely dismantled the Cats in Knoxville. Williams scored 16 of 18 points in the second half and Schofield had a game-high 20 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Both Schofield and Williams are averaging double figures in points and over 6 rebounds per contest.
A big reason the Tennessee basketball team was so dominant against the Wildcats in the second has the absence of both PJ Washington and Wenyen Gabriel. Washington began cramping in his legs early in the second half and sat for the remainder of the game. Gabriel, who was in foul trouble throughout the game, picked up his 5th foul and fouled out with about 12 minutes left to play.
Thankfully for the Kentucky basketball team they are at full strength. I’m sure Schofield and Williams will get plenty of looks from Jarred Vanderbilt on the low block. Vanderbilt has shown his ability as a post defender and he will be counted on throughout the game to make plays on the defensive end.
The Wildcats have more bodies and more experience since the last time these two teams played. Vanderbilt and Gabriel will have no problem matching the intensity of the Vols talented front court.
