2. UK needs Quade to return

The depth for the Kentucky basketball team at the guard spot was way too thin. Kentucky had Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Hamidou Diallo as the only two natural guards on the floor. Kevin Knox played some guard, and even Vanderbilt. But neither of those are natural guards really, and the only other guard to step on the floor was Brad Calipari.

Shai got into foul trouble, which forced Hami to the point position. BBN knows very well that Hami struggles to make good decisions with the ball. This put John Calipari in a very difficult position.  How much longer can Kentucky survive with Quade out?

Perimeter shooting, especially, struggled tonight and Quade Green can shoot. South Carolina guarded the paint and helped early on drives, daring the Cats to shoot. With Green out, there just wasn’t enough shooting threats on the floor. Depth at guard can really be an issue moving forward, as UK will soon be playing teams with better guards than Vanderbilt and South Carolina.
