2. Zone defense

The Kentucky basketball squad has had a lot of success over the past two games with a 2-3 zone defense. That may not be an option on Wednesday night.

Calipari is not usually known for playing a lot of zone defense, but this year’s UK team has the length to be effective playing zone. However, LSU has a lot of talented shooters, and a 2-3 zone defense may not be that effective.

Waters, Skylar Mays, Daryl Edwards and Brandon Sampson all attempt at least 3 three-pointers per game. Three of those four Tigers are knocking down at least 45% of their shots from downtown. If UK decides to utilize their zone defense, there’s a good chance LSU might shoot them out of it. The Cats will likely be more dependent on their man-to-man defense in this match up.
