Quade + Shai

I thought the Cats looked their best today when Calipari played his 2 point guards at the same time. I think we just might see more Quade plus Shai rather than Quade versus Shai. This is similar to the previous Calipari backcourts that we’ve come to love, just not quite the same star-power. Shai can really attack the basket, and Quade can really shoot the ball. These two on the floor together, especially with the ‘small’ lineup, makes UK really tough to guard. It’s pretty simple: these two together on the floor help one another succeed. Green’s shooting ability helps spread the floor and open driving lanes for Gilgeous-Alexander. Shai’s driving ability forces teams to help and rotate, which creates open shots for Quade. They are much more of a dangerous duo than I anticipated before the season began.
