Eddie Sutton’s Wildcats were down by one with 11 seconds to go. Ed Davender took the ball around the defense and threw up a floater from a bout twelve feet out. The shot missed, but the Cardinals failed to box out and the senior big man Cedric Jenkins tipped the ball home at the buzzer. The Wildcats defeated the Cardinals 76-75. The put back was Jenkin’s only bucket of the game. That victory was the fourth for the Cats in as many games. They would start the 1987-88 season 10-0.
