Rebounding

The Wildcats dominated the offensive glass in the first half against UCLA. However, the second half swung in the Bruins favor and the final count was Kentucky 16 and UCLA 11. Six of those offensive rebounds belonged to Gabriel.

The final count for the game on Saturday was UK 36 and UCLA 37. With the size advantage that Kentucky possesses over almost every opponent, which includes seven players at least 6’7″, they must control the boards. The Wildcats will not be able to overcome their shooting and defensive inefficiencies if they can’t out-rebound their opponents. This may be the most fixable task that John Calipari has ahead of him, as rebounding is more about hustle, desire and positioning than skill.
