Thomas Welsh is still at UCLA? Yep, the big seven-foot senior hasn’t graduated yet, even though for UK fans it seems like we’ve been playing against him for five years. This will be a tough match-up for the Cats. Welsh can really shoot the ball, especially the mid-range jumper from 15 feet. Welsh’s perimeter shooting and ball-handling will be tough for Nick Richards and Sacha Killeya-Jones to guard. It’s also a lot to ask of Kevin Knox, PJ Washington or Wenyen Gabriel to defend Welsh one-on-one in the post. It will be interesting to see who Calipari decides to guard Welsh. He’s the most glaring match-up problem for Kentucky.
